…“Archipel welcomes Ten and Tracer, who bring us the ethereal dub influenced “L-Msaria B-Lglass”. The package begins with “Duivenmelker” which skips along lightly and deeply through a myriad of skittering amber hue’d globules of warmth. “Zakenvrouw” continues on this path while taking things slightly slower and even deeper with woody droning encapsulated within tiny sunkissed drops of liquid. “The Forked Stick” is a dub infused afternoon swaying from side to side in a hazy hammock of nostalgic whispers while “Kunstenaar” is even deeper with a hint of swing to keep things percolating. “Zakenmaan” is a choppy floorboard creeking experience dipped in misty fluid humidity.”

Continuar leyendo…

…”Somewhat psychedelic, somewhat sentimental. Always kept in a chilly way. Nice music to lean back and dream of upcoming things, positive things in life. Things come, things go. Spiral clouds in beautiful colours. This release helps to find a good feeling while managing life and it´s cheap tricks. Take care.

‘’Now with more than 40 releases and over a dozen 12″s to his name, he has toured the globe playing an eclectic array of venues and festivals along the way. His live shows have been hailed for their energy, originality and ingenuity as he’s taken the stage next to some of the most respected names in the business. Never compromising the art of showman-ship, these spectacles feature live keyboards and vocals as well as the incorporation of his DIY aesthetic.'’

…“Sometime in 2001, just after the release of his Raum… Musik CD Amanecer, Dick Richards was a guest live performer at the First Avenue Club in Minneapolis, where he did what DJ slang refers to as a “killer set”. This set was available for some time on this very site but, for server related reasons, it eventually disappeared. So here it is again, as good as it ever was, which only confirms what we already knew: in a universe of copycats, posers & wannabes, Dick Richards, remains the unjustly underrated specialist of a certain timeless kind of minimal house.

Just imagine: mullets, ferraris testarrosa, flamingos, wayfarers, beaches, rollerskaters and palms… now put underneath it all an italodisco soundtrack, ¿what do we have? Miami Vice! isn’t it? Alright, now cast it all to 2007. What we get this time is Miami Horror instead, the new australian disco sensation, a Melbourne based 20 year old guy, who apart of being friend of remarked people such Midnight Juggernauts, Cut Copy, Van She or Bag Raiders, for instance, is producing Gameboy/Gamegirl tracks as well.
Right now, what we can hear is only a set of tracks that we know thanks to his MySpace, and remixes (we emphasize the one he did for Stardust’s megaclassic “Music sounds better with you”), but within a short time we will be able to hear what is supposed to be his new album, which is going to be named as “Bravado”. He defines it as “… the Epic, Missionairy 80’s Disco soundtrack of summer/spring/winter/autum”.
This kid also has another parallel project with Curtis Vodka, called Tigrton, se let’s keep an eye on it until they release something.
“Truncado.ep” de “Insecto”, músico residente en la ciudad de La Serena, Chile, es un trabajo donde concurren sonoridades provenientes del glitch y la IDM, para conformar una serie de tracks donde los ritmos rotos comparten espacio con las líneas melódicas, generando armonías y espacios nostálgicos y digitales. “In Vitro from Mexico City is switching your brain to stand-by mode. Visionary soundscapes and subliminal tones are bringing your consciousness to the very deepest state. The cover photo is made by Elizabeth Cacho.”

She made her debut with only 25 years on “A Distant Shore” and now returns in solitary with a colorfull and optimisic album. Maybe her name is not well know, but she is the recognisable voice and heart of Everything But The Girl. Although her singing makes you think youre listening to another album of the duo (the other half of EBTG, Ewan Pearson, also remixes an produces part of the album) she renews adopting new styles: electronic pop and 80’s electro in the first single “Its all true” with the touch of Darshan Jesrani, who is part of Metro Area.
The voice of this story-teller girl is an authentic delicatessen and the album is full o styles: electronic ballads, orquestal, dancefloor… Good to hear from you again, Tracey.

Dour Festival or the summer’s event. Indeed it’s presented as the super festival where every single being considered as a human by itself shoud go. Reasons? Laugh prices and laugh line-up as well. Laugh prices because of the cheap they are, 4-days ticket costs 75 Euro (you’ve to add 15 more Euro if you want to put your tent at the camping), and laugh line-up… take a look and you’ll realize that the question to make is not “which artists are going to play there?”… instead you should ask “which artists are NOT going to play there?” because half a world is included on the line-up! At first sight, people would probably think “well… they may be not very well known artists”, isn’t it? Let’s get started: Hot chip, The rapture, Vive la fête, Swayzak, Adult., Dave Clarke, Blackstrobe, Justice, Simian mobile disco, Teenage bad girl, SebastiAn, DJ Mehdi, … wanna me going on with this? Because I comfortably could! Actually, i could keep on saying artists until have reached 200 of them. Massive.
The festival will be arranged during 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th of July, in a little belgian village called Dour, next to Charleroi-Brussels airport (well known among the studens and young people for belonging to Ryanair-cheap-as-hell airlines), exactly is around 40 km ago from the airport.
In this edition, the 19th one, apart of the prices we said before, we emphasize their eclectic and complete line-up, where we can find a lot of musical styles, from electro to punk and hardcore, drum and bass, dubstep, dancehall and dub included. But the electro section is the one where the organization has probably put more effort, at least it seems, due to the ONE DAY ED BANGER DEDICATED STAGE!
Yes, belgians have pushed the boat out and they have hired half a label. There you will find Justice, Busy P, DJ Mehdi, SebastiAn, Uffie and Feadz all together, isn’t it terrific? But not everything is about Ed Banger at all. A lot of same-pattern artists are included as well, so the electro lover will feel like being in heaven.
Hereafter, we are going to make a little resume of what the festival consists on, dividing by day and mentioning the artists that in our opinion are the most important (attention, that’s not the total line-up, actually it has more than the double of artists of those who we are going to mention):
12th July
The skatalites, Vive la fête, Wu-Tang Clan, Guitar wolf, Bonobo, The cinematic orchestra, DJ Food & DK (Solid steel), Coldcut, Agoria, Tiefschwarz, Swayzak, Noisia, Grooverider, Andy C, DJ Hype, Kid606.
13th July
The national, Hot chip, The rapture, Clap your hands say yeah, Bright eyes, Erase errata, No means no, The horrors, Adult., Dave Clarke, Blackstrobe, DJ 3000, Converge, Walls of jericho, Sick of it all, Stereo total, Simian mobile disco, Motor, Digitalism, Technasia, RJ2D2, Jimi Tenor & Kabu Kabu, Skream, Joe Nice, Wiley.
14th July
Dropkick murphys, Girls in Hawaii, Motorpsycho, Melchior, Teenage bad girl, Fixmer & McCarthy, Princess superstar, Vitalic, Dr. Lektroluv, Sworn enemy, SebastiAn, Busy P, DJ Mehdi, Uffie & Feadz, Justice, Erol Alkan, The notwist, Luke Vibert, Autechre, Venetian Snares, Otto Von Schirach.
15th July
Black rebel motorcycle club, Wilco, Amon tobin, Abstrackt keal agram, James Delleck, DJ Shadow, Dr. Octagon, DJ Dan vs Mr. Magnetik, Alex Nilson, DJ’s or not, Percubaba, Merzbow, Wolf eyes, Sunn O))), 65daysofstatic, dDamage, Para one.
So, in main words, that’s what Dour Festival is, a terrific artist meeting, condensend in one single event, and, in addition, cheap as hell, because otherwise, if you would like to see them all separated, you’d spend huge quantities of money. So cheer up yourself and give it a try. You deserve it! And if you finally decide to go, drop us a line, because we will go too!
Cheers!

(English below…)
Experimentaciones varias como Will Gravity Win Tonight o Good To Be Alive entre otras, tambien deslumbran.
Matthew Dear has no need to knock many doors to see published his new Asa Breed, because Ghostly International, close relative of his usual label Spectral Sound, has received him warmly and with a nice catering for his welcome for sure. Texas born and Detroit neighbour recycles himself multiplying his instrumentation and making an organic and of unclassifiable tendency album.
It opens with Fleece On Brain, in crescendo tension, vocoderized voice and a bet that truly catches. Hits of post-love taste like Neighbourhoods, Elementary Lovers, Pom Pom or the hypest Don And Sherri, that is the closest to Spectral’s Matthew, but with his voices. In other more intimate hand, he walks through more soft pop songs, like the electrifying Death To Feelers, with guitar company in Give Me More, and the salvation and hope in Midnight Lovers. Various experiments such as Will Gravity Win Tonight or Good To Be Alive also shine.

Ive NEVER weared a tie, but if need to, id like one of these @ Cyberoptix

The formula based on “hot chick + Vanilla ice look + guys arranging the dance production part” seems to be working, and a good example of that is Steed lord, a four-piece band from Björk and Sigur rós’ home country, in other words, Iceland. They come with a kind of mix between electro, funk and crunk… Pretty exciting, indeed.
Artistic names such M.E.G.A. or A.C. BANANA$ are what Steed lord components have selected to call themselves, and they affirm that everything got started thanks to an Amiga program called Prototracker, which is something like an Ableton Live from Precambrian.
Their superhit, or at least, their most known tune, is “Dirty mutha”, which has been remixes twice, and as well as they are remixed, they remix other people too. A good example is the one they did for Purple crush (well known because of their banger “Shopping on the dancefloor”), where Steed lord present their personal point of view for the track “Vacation”. Nowadays they are signed to no label, but let’s see how it works, because they really worth to be in a great one.
Nothing else to say, hope you all enjoy them. Cheers.
Do you want to know history of the most recognized brands in our world?
Here you can find those things…
Pick up your favourite brand and check where it all start. . .
The History website.
Yeah, we are living in a nice, corporated world…
Things that are living in the pockets of your bag, jeans or jacket: travel and pay checks, old cigarette pack that just looks interesting, sugar lumps and all the stuff that has found home in your pockets. They are all the treasures our project is looking for! Our goal is not only bring all this objects into light but show the owner of them.

“Dub Echoes” was shot, by a brazilian crew, in Kingston (Jamaica), London (UK), NY, Washington, LA (US) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). In the interviews, key names from both reggae and electronic music world, talk about the birth of this genre, how it helped to change the way we perceive music and how it’s presence can still be felt today.
As we can see… since they started, they visited many important places and spoke with number of well known artists and producers for that kind of music.
Fact that, they are workin’ more than 2 years on this document is very promising.
I think it is really really worth to wait for it. . .
Finally we can watch trailer to the one of the most interestin’ movies about dUb music…

Some time ago we wrote a post about Scuola Furano, recommending them, mainly because of their original sound. Right, our surprise was when the day after posting that, we found what you see above. At the main index of their web page, where news about the band are announced, there appeared our magazine (together with Neonized, the spanish version of some posts of those which appear here). What a surprise! To appear at Furano’s webpage, a great honour, indeed! So we contacted them to check if they were interested on a little interview. The answer was Yes!, so here is the result that Borut has sent us.
First of all, could you introduce yourselves briefly? Your names, when did you start playing together and stuff…
Borut Viola and Marco Busolini, here we are. We met 10 years ago, we usually had long sundaymorning speeches about music (hip-hop) and things like that, then, in 2000 we started a friendship and decided to make “sumtin”… I bought an Akai S2800, an old-skool sampler, and with a Cubase old-skool version too we started to produce our first traxx. Influences: Crydamoure, Roulè, Daft Punk of course, Compost, Atlantic Jaxx… Riotmaker records, a little but very good independent label, received our first demo and decided to put our tunes in our first album: “Scuola Furano”.
How would you define your music?
Our music? In these years we heard a lot of styles, I discovered Chicago House, Detroit Techno, all House Music history, Northern Soul, Italian Goldies and, for sure, all the new club releases… I think like everyone I don’t like define my style but, I can normally say our music is a tribute to house music, sometimes club addicted, sometimes pop…
Which kind of stuff do you use to make your music and to play live sets?
In studio (my mac @ my room @ my bed @ my legs) I use ReCycle, Reason, Garage band and Logic. We also play real synth like a KORG MS2000, a KORG POLY800, a MICROKORG and a KORG ELECTRIBE (KORG addicted but unfortunately not sponsored). We played live last year, it was a good and funny live set, all the real machines beside my mac with Ableton LIVE and 2 MIC, future fake rappers were playing house music!
What do you think about the new and emerging french electro scene?
Mmmmhh… I think all the french and ” nu-rave” electro scene now is the freshest thing I can play in my set, till 3 months ago. Now I’m in a personal drama, all THAT scene sounds similar, so similar and everybody wants to play with rock drums, distorted basslines and acid sounds. If everybody sample something he don’t choose the sample, he choose the sound, it’s a “punk” way instead a ” groovy” way and I don’t like it so much… Do u remember Le Knight Club or the nu-rave gods, and my personal Gods + Hero, Daft Punk?
What kind of music do you usually listen to?
Usually new releases and oldies, all kind of. Call Classix NOT Bestsellah!
Are you planning to release anything within a short time?
Ok, it’s June 2007… Now or September we’ll release the SSHHHH!! E.P. for Mantra Vibes, then a compilation with old and new SF tunes, remixes and productions… In August we’ll enter in studio for the new album sound… Now you can download our unreleased remixes and production (2005-2007) on www.scuolafurano.com
If you had to mention 5 artists that you consider BASIC, which ones would you say?
By Borut
Daft Punk
Leroy Burgess
Jaques Lu Cont
Lucio Battisti
EPMD
And what about 5 indispensable tracks at the dancefloor?
By Borut
Madonna - Into the Groove
Michael Jackson - P.Y.T.
Daft Punk - Da Funk (Everybody remixed it… and I don’t know why!!!)
Le Knight Club - Holyday on Ice
Loose Joints - Is it all over my face?
Anything else that you would like to say to the readers of this blog?
Hola or Holla… It depends on if you are Spanish or GhettoEnglish…

Efdemin, aka Phillip Sollmann, is a Berlin producer that’s leading the way forward through the converging thickets of minimal, deep house and techno. Last month Efdemin released his debut album on Hamburg’s Dial imprint, home to lush like-minded technoists Pantha Du Prince and Lawrence. But whereas Lawrence is about the romantic pads and Pantha the melodies, Efdemin is all about the careful, calculated groove. Check the singles ‘Lohn & Brot’ and ‘Acid Bells’ for the evidence. One of the best and most moving work is that hipnotising video!

Gregor Graf draws the viewer’s gaze to the city of Linz completely purged of signs. With purposely intentional retouching, he emphasizes the architectonic and structural features of the city in an extreme way. The streets seem unreal, culturally interchangeable and alien. They call for a new kind of perception beyond the realm of our familiar experiences and patterns. At the same time, though, these pictures open up a view of architecture that is otherwise blocked and “clarified” spatial systems.

So well, we know that you sing “Do the D.A.N.C.E. 1, 2, 3, 4, Fight!” when you are walking down the street… Ooops, yes, that’s true, you’re obsessed with the videoclip that Justice have done for their superbanger, and because of that you can’t stop singing it, isn’t it? We do so, and a lot of people do it as well. That’s why marketing experts have recommended the frenchies to take advantage of the success of that song + video, so they have released two days ago some of the T-shirts which appear on it. The demand has been sooooo heavy that, for example, at Colette they are not available anymore. So we just have to wait until the next delivery.

We love syndication. We love design.
If you want to have the latest on design and have a big source of visual stimulation design-feed.net is a cool way. It comes as an aggregator, and its use is simple: user submit a syndicated web and its feed, and if it matches the admin criteria its added to the database. Then you only have to pick what you like.
