It’s been a time since we got an advance of what it’s supposed to be the next NYPC album, which has been named as “Fantastic playroom”. One LP formed by 10 tracks, where the most notorious thing is that we already know the 70% of them all (aesthetically much better than “7 of 10″), so what we deduce is that they’ve included A-sides and B-sides as well, thing that makes us have only three new tracks, two of them quite good tracks, but the other one… Well, I should to say that I’m half happy, half dissapointed with this release, mainly because I hoped to hear many more new tracks instead every B-side of each single, but anyway…. that’s what we have, so stop complaining! At least we have two new tracks that are worth, one of them is called “Talking talking”, quite relaxed, funky and nighty, one of these tracks which tries to transmit elegance and style while whispering to the microphone and stuff. In the other hand we also have “Fan”, which is more danceable, but not reaching a “dancefloor superhit” level at all… and it continues keeping the funk legacy that is always present at their other tracks. Furthermore they have added another track called “Grey”, totally superfluous in my opinion.
Well, in conclusion, nothing new, but good quality. If you already knew the band, you won’t get surprised, but if you’re discovering them right now, don’t doubt about buy the record and push it over the heap formed by your other records from Out hud and Sneaky sound system.
